Summary
The Victorian Institute of Secondary Education was established under the Victorian Institute of Secondary Education Act 1976. The Institute was responsible for carrying out the following functions: "provide assistance to persons who were in…transition from secondary school to further studies by providing for the provision of adequate information, consultation, guidance and preparation and through the arrangement of student assessments." The Institute was abolished in 1986, due to the repeal of the Secondary Education Act by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board Act, and was replaced by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board.
