Summary

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board was established under Section 4(1) of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board Act 1986, replacing the Victorian Institute of Secondary Education (1976-1986). The Board was responsible for carrying out the following functions: "accreditation of courses, issuing…of the certificates and conducting or supervising the conduct of the assessment of those undertaking the courses." The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board was abolished on 30 June 1993 with the repeal of the Board of Studies Act, and was replaced by the Victorian Board of Studies.
