Summary
The Education Department (Western Australia) was established on 13 October 1893, under the Elementary Education Act Amendment Act, 1893, replacing the Central Board of Education (1871-1893). The Department was responsible for carrying out functions relating to the administration of "primary, secondary and technical schools, teachers' training colleges [and] universities." The Department was abolished on 1 July 1988, and the Ministry of Education was established under the Education Act 1928.
