Summary
The Department of Education (New South Wales) was established in 1915, with the renaming of the Department of Public Instruction (1880-1915). The Department was responsible for the carrying out the following functions: administration of primary, secondary, continuing and technical education. The Department was renamed on 15 December 1989, and became known as the Department of School Education.
