Summary
The Department of Education and Training (Western Australia) was established on 3 February 2003, with the merging of the Education Department (1994-2003) and the Department of Training (1994-2003). The Department was responsible for carrying out functions relating to the following broad areas: "primary education (kindergarten to Year 7); secondary education (Year 8 to Year 12); vocational education and training services; and employment programs." The Department was abolished on 30 October 2009, and its functions were split between the newly created Department of Education and the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
